Story on the science of the therapeutic use of baths
The sun rose and AkuTenshi yawned. She spent most of the night glaring at Alex for her little “Night, my vampire” comment. AkuTenshi fell asleep the second the sun’s rays peaked over the horizon.
“AkuTeeenshiii” Alex muttered as she tried to wake the sleeping girl “Akuuu!” She yelled and shoved her.
AkuTenshi finally woke, but glared at Alex like she was gonna kill her. She glanced at a clock and sat up, yawning. 12:15 noon.
“Its noon. What’s wrong?” AkuTenshi asked but when she glanced at Alex, her blood turned to ice.
“M-mom and D-dad -are…” Alex sobbed.
AkuTenshi stared at her blood stained friend. Instinctively, she grabbed Alex’s wrist and walked out and down the hall. She shoved Alex in the bathroom, ordering her to lock the door and clean herself up.
She walked down the hall and into the master bedroom. Sure enough, there was Marie, Alex’s mother, on the bed, soaked in blood.
She peaked into the bathroom to see Josh, Alex’s father, dead as well, blood everywhere. Josh was in the bathtub, in water thickly tainted with blood.
AkuTenshi looked around, to find something off, something different.
‘Nothing’ AkuTenshi concluded
She looked at the blood, to see how recent the kill was. She tightened her jaw and swallowed
‘Around when I fell asleep.’
She quickly exited and knocked on the bathroom door
“Alex! We need to leave, now!” She ordered with urgency as the door opened
“What about the police?!”
“Forget them, something tells me they are only gonna peg me a prime suspect, and get in the way”
“Where are we gonna go then?” Alex sniffed
AkuTenshi thought for a moment, and then closed her eyes.
“To my family…” She whispered “We need to get as far away from here as possible…” She paused “Pack light, essentials only- NO! Hair spray is not a must! AkuTenshi snapped “..And we’re gonna need a lot of money”
“Alex nodded a little as she registered what was going on. AkuTenshi could tell Alex wasn’t all there, and her mind was blank. Gently, she guided Alex to a couch in the living room and got her a small bowl of cereal, setting it on the coffee table.
“At least eat something… calm down. I’ll pack” She paused “If you hear anything strange… get me, immediately”
AkuTenshi smiled sadly before she left Alex to go pack. She grabbed anything useful in the master bedroom. Money, credit cards, Alex’s passport, and Marie’s and Josh’s cell phones. Next, she went into Alex’s room and dumped out her school backpack, replacing the items with clothes and a hair brush. She knew Alex would go nuts if she couldn’t at least brush her hair
‘She’ll live without a toothbrush….’ AkuTenshi thought
She returned to the living room, and handed Alex a change of clothes
“Change… and hurry”
Once they both changed, they left. Alex was still in shock, and AkuTenshi just wanted to hurry. When they stopped, AkuTenshi made an anonymous call to the police, claiming to hear screams from the house.
“You know… you left the station too early yesterday…” Alex commented as they continued to walk “…and now this. They’re gonna peg you as prime suspect because they know you were there…”
AkuTenshi sighed
“I know, but I’d rather avoid them this time. The phone call we made from that pay phone will make it seem like we ran as they were dying, the killer coming for us…”
“But when they investigate, they’ll see we didn’t” Alex pointed out
AkuTenshi smirked
“By then, we’ll be far away. They don’t do a thorough search until the neighborhood calms down enough to go home. So things don’t get out before they’re filtered.”
Alex stared at her friend.
“You make it sound like you’ve done this your whole life!”
AkuTenshi shook her head
“No. People in my family have told me many things like this… each time they were proven innocent. That’s why I think they can help. Things like this happened to them before, but the real mastermind killer was never found… not even identified”
Alex thought for a moment then sighed shakily.
“Your family thinks you’re a beast. Wont they relate that to this?”
AkuTenshi thought long on that possibility.
‘What if they refuse to help unless I embrace this… thing?’ she thought.
As Alex and AkuTenshi got further, questions started to rise. Ones AkuTenshi didn’t like.
“Did you ever think about why you slept during the day?” Alex asked quietly.
“No” She answered
“Don’t you question your eating habits? Like the fact you’re a vegetarian. And that you can only drink water, wine or tea?”
AkuTenshi’s eyes narrowed
“No, my turn. Are you on crack?”
Alex smiled slightly
“No, I just want to know if you’ve considered that…” she paused in hesitation “Well, if you actually might have believed that-“
AkuTenshi sighed softly, and looked at Alexandra
“If they can prove it, then I will believe that I am a dragon… vampire thing”
