Story on find fault
“High school. More like one big nightmare you’re stuck in for four years. When you step through the doors, you may have a bit more freedom then middle school but you also see how more immature people can be. Having sex and getting knocked up, everyone doing some kind of drug, cussing like crazy. The principles say that they care about the students and will do whatever they can to help but that’s just a lie. Don’t believe any of this? Let me tell you my story.”
When I first began High School, it seemed pretty scary at first. The school was so much larger than the middle school; I felt I needed a GPS just to find my way around the school. But normally that’s how everyone must’ve felt at one point or another. I had my small group of friends to stick with, so it wasn’t as bad. I knew that if any shit happened, they would have my back.
Some of the teachers were pretty cool. They had a unique personality and choose not to be like boring robots that just hand you work and do nothing. They let you have some fun while being serious at the same time. It was teachers like that you could get along with pretty well. While some of them had a big attitude on them or they talk a big game but yet don’t do anything. Even one teacher who just talks about trees. My honest opinion, the tree guy seems a bit funny but also a bit creepy.
I wasn’t much of a popular guy, or a smart guy. I was seen as an outcast. I had the whole nerd look to me, with my curly brown hair, the silly graphic t-shits, my glasses. People would always point fingers and laugh, or even whisper quietly to themselves. No one really bothered to try and talk to me, or really wanted to get to know me. I always sat in the back of the room with a book in my hand, and each day was a different book because I love to read and would finish a book within a day. And the book is always better then the movie.
Then the bullying. Sadly. This was nothing new to me. I have been bullied almost all my life and just when I think it’s stopped, just when I think I can go a day with a smile on my face, it just keeps going. I’m bullied on my weight mainly. I admit, I am fat, but not like Santa fat. It’s just a little bit of fat, nothing bad.
But people have to make jokes, even throw food at me saying harsh things like calling me a pig or make comments how I will fade away if I don’t eat and other harsh things I can’t bring myself to repeat. Some days they’d even put their hands on me and push me around and stuff, making jokes how I am gay for men.
It was days like theses where I stayed home and cried, and tried so hard not to cut myself. I always wear a hoodie to try and cover up my scars so no one will make worse jokes then they already do.
It began at age 12. The first time was an accident, but the small tinge of pain just made me forget the pain I was already going through. So I kept doing it. Some are small, while some are bigger and needed a trip to the hospital to fix. I have them on my chest and both my arms.
My mom tried so hard to get me help, which I did take. But some days, no matter how hard I try, I just can’t help but give in. I guess the Brightside to this is I’m still walking and breathing, but no one seems to understand why I do this, and they never will.
I mainly wear sweatpants to school. I have a few pair of jeans that I do wear, but I feel the jeans push my fat out a bit too much and feel really tight, not because of my weight just in general. Plus the sweats are comfy and easy to slip into. While I may not be that fat, I am still very self conscious about my body.
Even in gym, when we get changed I either wait until everyone leaves or I slip into the showers where no one can see me. I take enough verbal abuse through the day as it is, so having guys watch me change and make jokes about me just doesn’t seem like a good day.
The saying about how you see people’s true colors once you enter high school is true. My small group of friends? I cut half of them out of my life half way through the first year of school. I saw how nasty they were, and how they really felt about me.
They would bully certain people who they found annoying to them, and they don’t even know them personally.
Then what they say about me. I don’t need that kind of drama in my life, especially the way it is right now. What was once a group of maybe ten good friends dropped to a small group of four friends? Even then, I still feel so alone and think that they hate me. But that’s probably my head playing games on me.
Outside school is where I feel more at home. I do focus on my school work before anything else. But as soon as I finish it up, I reach for one of my notebooks and write. I love to write and could go on for hours.
I write short stories, fake interviews with my favorite celebrities, poems and so on. My mom jokes that as a baby I was born with a pencil in my hand. I had more notebooks then anything with all kinds of writings I have done over the years.
It made me feel happy; being able to escape the reality I’m in and create something new, something fun, a world to leave the hate behind.
On weekends, when I was finally free of that nightmare, I’d go for a walk down to this barn about half a mile up the road from us.
The owners were really nice people, and had the most beautiful horses ever. I loved horses so much, for reasons I don’t know. But everything about them. Their body movement, their strength, everything.
There was just something about them that just made you fall in love. The owners even let me ride them and teach me all kinds of things. It was something that just made me feel alive and happy.
These are the things that make me who I am. But as soon as I step in through the main doors to school, no one cares. It’s all about how can they make me cry today. Some days I want to run away, just wake up one night and leave with no trace. But I can’t. I am stuck in this nightmare called life, trying to fight to make something of myself. But to be honest, I don’t know why I fight. It doesn’t seem to do me any good.
This is just a brief description of my life in high school so far. I know some people will disagree or agree with what I say. But I don’t care. It’s my life, and no matter how hard I try to keep my head up, it just does me no good. I really wish that one person would come into my life that understands the pain I go through.
