Story on deceptive nonsense
Lira and a young man were walking through the woods. “Remind me again why I’m doing this?” the young man asked Lira, who was sitting on his shoulder. “Because Charlie, my boyfriend needs help and you owe me. That, and because we’re friends,” she replied with a grin on face. Charlie had natural white hair and green eyes. He is a spirit medium who travels around the world helping people.
He first met Lira in a hospital, and they soon became friends. He is the only one of Lira’s old friends that knows her new appearance. “And here I thought you said you’d never get a boyfriend…” Charlie sighed. “Oh, did you have a crush on me or something?” Lira asked, but she immediately got her answer when she saw his blushed face.
“I’m sorry. I was never interested in love before because I knew I would die young. I also didn’t want kids for fear they would suffer the same way I did,” she explained. “I understand. Are we almost there?” he replied. “Yep. He’s next to that large tree right there,” Lira said as she pointed at the tree.
Charlie stopped in his tracts when a saw a dridder leaning against the tree. “Lira…you neglected to tell me that your boyfriend wasn’t human,” he stated. “Well, you neglected to ask. Don’t worry though, he’s too out of it to attack you anyways,” Lira replied as she jumped off Charlie.
She then headed towards Venom as Charlie rolled his eyes saying, “Oh yeah, like that makes me feel any better!” When Lira got close enough she jumped onto Venom’s shoulder and stroked his cheek. He wearily looked at Lira.
Then he saw Charlie and his facial expression changed as he said, “Who the hack are you!?” Charlie flinched by Venom’s aggressive look. “Now, now, Venom, that’s my friend Charlie, and he’s a spirit medium,” she said as she calmed Venom down.
“A spirit what?” Venom had no clue. “Basically he can call the souls of the dead so they can speak with the living,” she explained. “And why is he here?” Venom asked. “What do you mean why!? He’s here so you can speak with Zack!” she exclaimed.
“What?” Venom looked to Charlie, “Listen, Chuckie,” “It’s Charlie,” he interjected, “Whatever. I’m sorry Lira dragged you here but you can leave. Go on and do your spirit medium thingy somewhere else,” and Venom did a shooting hand gesture.
Lira kicked Venom’s cheek, “Venom that’s horrible, and don’t you want to know the truth about Zack!?”
“Knowing the truth won’t change anything!” he yelled back. “Well I think it will help you so please do it,” she said but Venom didn’t reply. “Please…for me?” she said pleadingly. “…fine,” he said reluctantly. Lira cheered happily and then plucked one of Venom’s head hairs then jumped off him. Venom cursed asking why she did that and she said that Charlie needed it.
She walked up to Charlie and handed him the hair. By using the hair, Charlie was able to see memories of Venom’s past, and see who Zack was. After calling out for Zack, Charlie lost consciousness and collapsed. “Is your friend ok?” Venom asked and crossed his arms. He didn’t really care he was just curious. Lira nodded and said that was what always happened when a dead soul possessed him. Charlie sat up, but the look in his eyes was different.
He then stared at Venom and said, “V?” his voice sounded different. Venom relaxed his arms and stared at him in shock saying, “How do you know me by that name?” Charlie looked around and saw Lira not too far away from him. He looked at her curiously and asked, “And who are you young lady?” Lira casually approached Charlie and said, “I’m Lira, Venom’s girlfriend.
Are you Zack?” and he nodded his head. Zack looked to Venom and said, “You got a girlfriend? Ha! And you said you never would be able to,” he grinned. Venom was furious and yelled, “What kind of nonsense is this!?” standing up and clenching his fists.
Venom’s face softened by his words and said, “Zack?” and he nodded. Venom shook his head, “Fine. Say that you are really Zack. Then why did you deceive me!?” he said angrily. Zack looked away from him and replied, “I had no choice.” “NO CHOICE?” Venom yelled and then Lira kicked him hard in the neck.
“Shut up Venom, and let him finish!” Lira sneered. She jumped off Venom and approached Zack. She then jumped onto Zack’s leg and said, “As you were saying?” Zack looked down at her and gave her a simple smile, and then he looked back at Venom.
Zack stood up, causing Lira to fall off him and said, “I don’t blame you. Given to what you told me about your parents, you couldn’t see it as a misunderstanding!” “That doesn’t change the fact that I killed you for no reason…” he replied back with a pained look on his face. Zack approached him and offer Venom his hand, “At least you gave me a merciful death.”
“I have no clue what you’re talking about,” Venom replied in denial as he stood up.
“I’m no fool Venom. I heard all those agonizing screams from the villagers you killed. Despite you believing that I betrayed you, all you did was inject lethal venom in me. It was fast and painless and I thought of it as a final kind task,” Zack stated.
“Hello, forget about me!?” Lira stomped angrily towards the two giants.
She glared up at Zack and said, “I do not appreciate that abrupt stand you did, and making me falls on my back,” she crossed her arms and was tapping her foot. Zack scratched the back of his head and replied, “Uh…hehe…sorry about that Lira.”
As I walked through the village she ran up to me panting. I didn’t even want to hear what she had to say so I pinched a nerve and made her sleep. I carried her to a new village and left her at the orphanage.
That was my last kind act to humans,” he explained. “V…thanks you,” Zack said with tearful eyes.
Zack backed away from Venom, “I guess it’s time for me to go. My host is beginning to get tired.” Venom nodded and Lira sighed. Zack looked to Lira, “Hey Lira, please watch over V for me. I know he can be a bastard and most likely is teasing you with games, but that’s just his way of getting your attention.”
“Ack. Zack, don’t tell her that!” Venom exclaimed and Zack laughed. Zack then lost consciousness and collapsed. A few moments later he got back up again and the look in Zack’s eyes was back to Charlie’s. Charlie wiped his eyes and said, “Man, why do all the souls that possess me have to cry?”
Charlie looked to Lira and asked, “He’s doing that on purpose isn’t he?” but Lira just shrugged her shoulders. After saying good bye to one another, Charlie left Lira and Venom. With them only now, Venom started walking in the opposite direction silently. “Venom?” Lira was worried and Venom stopped.
He then offered his hand to her and she got on. He brought her up to his face and said, “Lira, I know you did this to help me and I am grateful, but this doesn’t mean I trust humans any more than before.” Lira sighed, “I know, but at least you know that your friend didn’t betray you and he even seemed like he was at peace with himself.” Venom smiled, “Thank you,” and kissed Lira’s forehead.
